John Logan

Admitted to the practice of law in 1982, Attorney Logan practices exclusively as a trial lawyer. An honors graduate of Western New England College School of Law, he also was a member of the school’s law review. His trial experience includes being lead counsel in trials involving medical malpractice, product liability, automobile accidents, divorce, custody, will contests, criminal law, juvenile law, building contracts, employment law, property disputes, zoning and inland wetlands appeals. Connecticut Magazine listed Attorney Logan as a "Super Lawyer" in its 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2011 publications.

Attorney Logan currently limits his practice to personal injury actions and criminal defense matters before Connecticut’s State and Federal Courts. He also handles appeals related to such matters.

Appointed as an Attorney Factfinder, Arbitrator and Attorney Trial Referee, he also handles private mediations.

  • Connecticut Bar Association - Attorney Logan has a long history of involvement in the Connecticut Bar Association including many years of service on the House of Delegates, the Board of Governors and one year as Treasurer. He has served on the Executive Committee of the Litigation Section and presently serves as a member of the Professional Ethics Committee. He was an original member of the Legislative Review Committee and is a past chair of the Legislative Policy Committee. He also chairs the Executive Director Compensation and Review Committee as well as the Sexual Harassment Committee. He has served on the awards committee as well as the nominating committee and has chaired both committees.

REPORTED CASES

Attorney Logan has briefed and argued many appeals before Connecticut’s Supreme and Appellate Courts. He successfully convinced the Supreme Court to expand the concept of "wrongful termination" to employees fired because they refused to perform hazardous work beyond the original scope of their employment. A landmark case, Parsons v. United Technologies, 243 Conn. 66 (1997), was widely reported both throughout the nation’s print media and legal community. IN THE COMMUNITY

A past president and current member of the Torrington Rotary Club, Attorney Logan’s service to this community has earned him the prestigious Paul Harris Fellowship Award. He co-founded a charitable golf outing which in a little over 20 years has raised nearly 1 million dollars. He is a member and past treasurer of the Avon Democratic Town Committee. He is a past chair and past treasurer of the Torrington Democratic Town Committee, a past member of the Torrington Ethics Commission, a past member of the Avon Inland Wetlands Commission and a former member of the adjunct faculty at Northwest Community College teaching political science. He is a member of the Torrington Country Club, the Golf Club of Avon, the Northwest Chamber of Commerce, a corporator for the Catholic Family Charities and a member of the UConn advisory committee for the Torrington campus. He lives in Avon with his wife and children.

WRITINGS AND LECTURES

In the November 2001 Connecticut Lawyer, Attorney Logan detailed the effects of the recent U. S. Supreme Court decision in Troxel v.Granville on Connecticut’s visitation statute. He also has written numerous editorials for the Connecticut Law Tribune and is an occasional speaker at the Connecticut Bar Association Law Center on ethics issues.
